TGIF – Stand Up For Something

March 18, 2011 by Bill Bradley

As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.

Quote of the Week: I don’t mind that I’m fat. You still get the same money. Marlon Brando

Humor Break: It is well documented that for every mile that you jog, you add one minute to your life. This enables you at age 85 to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5,000 per month.

Stat of the Week: The 25% of people who took the most breaks from being seated during sedentary periods such as work had waist circumferences that were 4.1 centimeters smaller, on average, than the waists of the 25% who took the fewest breaks.

Action Tip: Put a bottle of water out of reach.  Get up every few minutes for something  that is good for you (the water) and gets your circulation going.

Volunteering: Join a “Walk-a-Thon” to help raise money for your favorite cause.  We at Envisia Learning support long-time friend Sue Padernacht who lost her mother to breast cancer.  Join her in walking in an American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event near you this year.  Good exercise, great cause.
