TGIF – Well, It’s The Thought That Counts

May 20, 2011 by Bill Bradley

As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.

Quote of the Week: Business, that’s easily defined – it’s other people’s money. Peter Drucker

Humor Break: Carpe per diem – seize the check.

Stat of the Week: Fly away money!  According to projections by the Corporate Executive Board’s TowerGroup as reported in the April edition of Harvard Business Review, $2.5 billion worth of gift cards this year will go unused.  Well at least that is down from the $8 billion worth of gift cards not spent in 2007.  No wonder every company under the sun offers gift cards … profit on top of profit!

Action Tip: Have you even thought about gift cards lately?  If you were to check around house or in your purse/wallet would you find any that you “know you already used?”

Volunteering: If you have received or in the future receive gift cards that you can’t put to immediate use, consider contacting your favorite charities to see if they can use the card.  Many can.
