Purpose of Exercise: This formula for determining approximate days left to live opens clients’ eyes to the need for living each day to the fullest.
How to Administer and Use this Exercise to Facilitate Behavior Change: Often times people take their lives for granted, and sometimes don’t realize its value until it’s too late. Some clients that I’ve seen tend to work so hard that they don’t have time to enjoy the other precious aspects of their life. Other clients have always yearned to pursue their passion, but end up lagging and procrastinating, and never end up pursuing them. Other clients are so stressed and consumed by what their future entails, they often don’t get a chance to enjoy the present moment. If these clients realized how many days they have left to live, they may be more inclined to focus their energy on the NOW. This exercise provides a formula for determining the approximate days left to live (based on the Center for Disease Control lifespan average), in order to facilitate their behavioral change.
