How to Administer and Use this Exercise to Facilitate Behavior Change: We all know that behavioral change is not easy. A typical behavioral change program should consist of the following: awareness of development areas, motivation, an action plan, and deliberate practice of the new behavior. Even if all these elements and steps are successfully achieved, people are likely to relapse back to old habits at some point. This is an inevitable part of the behavioral change journey!
In order to be prepared and well equipped for relapse, it is important to identify situations that will increase the likelihood of a relapse occurrence. For instance, for many people high stress situations can inhibit people from staying on target with their new behavior and goal. This exercise will help you create a relapse prevention plan to ensure lasting behavioral change.
