Free Coaching Exercise: “My Personal Balance Sheet”

January 3, 2012 by Sandra Mashihi

This free exercise, and dozens of others, were created for our book, Clueless: Coaching People Who Just Don’t Get It. You can learn more about Clueless by visiting our site or you can buy it from amazon.com today.

Purpose of Exercise: This exercise is intended to help your clients identify their personal assets and liabilities.

How to Administer and Use this Exercise to Facilitate Behavior Change: This exercise is a great tool for facilitating awareness and insight of your clients personal assets and liabilities. Specifically, it helps them identify their skills, abilities, and personality traits that benefit and hinder their success. It allows clients to view their strengths and weaknesses in a balanced way. Ultimately, this balanced process can decrease resistance and increase motivation for change, since neither their strengths or weakness are outweighed or overly emphasized.
