Purpose of Exercise: Help clients explore what is stopping them from making a change
How to Administer and Use this Exercise to Facilitate Behavior Change: Becoming aware of our strengths and weaknesses is a great first step in making a change, however it does not result in change. Often times, people become stuck once they gain an awareness of those areas they need to work on in their development journey. They are either fearful, resistant, or unwilling to commit to deliberate practice of a implementing a new behavior.
It is particularly important to understand and explore any ambivalence before attempting to put forth the new behavior into practice. This exercise will help you identify you and or/your client’s resistance in implementing a new behavior. It will help uncover any lack of motivation that is present before proceeding to take action with development goals.
