HOT READS FOR THE PRACTITIONER

Title: Better, but not easy, time management

Competencies: time management, teamwork, team leadership

Who benefits: employees at any level, team leaders

Consultant Usage: good stories for trainers and coaches of time management

What’s it about? Came across a couple of blogs lately that focused on time management both at the individual level and the team level.

We all waste time.  Sometimes we want to.  Sometimes it just happens.  It is the just happens part we can do something about.  But we don’t want to.  It’s not comfortable, it’s not nice, it’s not that big of a deal.  Well, yes it is a big deal, but we are in denial.  Because…

Everything is a priority.  Except that when everything is a priority, nothing is a priority. “The Problem with Priorities” is a short article that details four steps a team (of any size) can take to get its priorities in order.

Stopping interruptions can be even more difficult.  “The Cardinal Rule of Rules” is another short article with one very cute story, one uncomfortable story, and a suggestion that most of you will not like and most likely won’t do, but is well-documented to be the most effective thing any of us can do to be more effective as time managers.

Reading the two articles reminded me just how important everyone’s time is, including yours, so I won’t take up any more of your time now.  Instead, I will urge you to invest your time in the two articles.

Catch you later.
