What’s it about? If you have looked at a calendar today you are probably aware that this is the anniversary of a very sad day in American history. It is the kind of day that can easily drag you down. In addition it is “hump day”, the middle of the week when things can be a grind. So I thought that today I would offer you a “Pick-Me-Up”, something to make you smile or inject a tad of optimism or motivation.

I spend a lot of time researching motivational or humorous quotes. I don’t always know what to do with them all. So here for your enjoyment and possible inspiration are some quotes that are eager to bust out of my files on to this page:

“Competence plus persistence equals accomplishment.” Unknown

“I’m on Facebook. I tweet. But if you really want to understand your own possibilities, you’ve got to spend more time with yourself” Belinda Luscombe

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go.” Ann Landers

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Robert Louis Stevenson

“Failure is a detour, not a dead-end street.” Zig Ziglar

“Most people work just hard enough not to get fired and get paid just enough money not to quit.” George Carlin

“Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn’t mean he lacks vision.” Stevie Wonder

    The Real Manager
An administrative clerk, a supervisor and their manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, ‘I’ll give each of you just one wish.’

‘Me first! Me first!’ says the admin clerk.. ‘I want to be in the Bahamas driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.’ Poof! She’s gone. ‘Me next! Me next!’ says the supervisor. ‘I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas, and the love of my life.’ Poof! He’s gone.

‘OK, you’re next,’ the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, ‘I want those two back in the office after lunch.’
