Title: When LSBF Meets Facebook
Competency: self-development
Who benefits: anyone seeking an MBA
Consultant Usage: career coaches and counselors
What’s it about? I really have no idea what to make of today’s post. I am quite frankly at a loss for words. I even wrote this first paragraph just to take up space.
Let me start with a somewhat bewildering question: What do you get when you combine the London School of Business and Finance with Facebook? Answer: An MBA!Â
Online (Facebook) and free!
Well almost free, there is a fee at the end if you actually want to be awarded the degree.
Here is what little I know about it. 100s of videos have been placed on Facebook containing the lectures of professors; students are encouraged to communicate with other students via Facebook.  The school describes its goal as to “deliver a first-class MBA experience that allows students all over the world to study in their own time and at their own paceâ€.
There is a 4 minute introductory video on the link page.
I spotted this site through Springwise, a trend spotting website which issued its finding on February 11, 2011. Here is an excerpt of what they reported: “Launched in late October, the LSBF Global MBA offers free access to lectures and panel discussion groups online through Facebook. Three studios in the LSBF’s London campus continuously record and constantly update study material for students to stay abreast of business events, while a team of advisors is available online. Students must still have a BSc/BA or five years of professional experience in order to earn an accredited LSBF Global MBA, and they must also pay if they want accreditation. Nevertheless, hundreds of hours of free study are available to all users, including 80 hours of high-definition video content. Developed by former Google employees, the LSBF Global MBA app delivers an MBA awarded by the University of Wales.â€
That’s all I know. Can’t recommend what I don’t know, but if any of you do check it out and especially if you proceed, let us know what you think. This sure is different … but is it good?
Catch you later.Â
