As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.
Quote of the Week: “The productivity of work is not the responsibility of the worker but of the manager.” Peter Drucker
Humor Break: Memo from Management: To maximize productivity and make us more efficient, we are going to modify all work areas as shown in the accompanying picture.
Stat of the Week: Final report for 2010: Nonfarm business sector labor productivity increased at a 2.3 percent annual rate.  Business sector productivity increased 2.5 percent in the third quarter of 2010, as output increased 3.7 percent and hours increased 1.2 percent. Which means there is hope for an economic recovery and Talent may be needed or on the move as companies begin to hire again. It also means management is continuing to look for unique ways to increase productivity (see picture).Â
Action Tip: If you are in management, this might be an excellent time to invest in 360 feedback for yourself. See how others see you in your role and develop an appropriate development plan, especially in relationship to those you supervise. As times get better the good Talent gets restless and one of their chief motives for moving on is the kind of supervision they receive (that would be You).
Volunteering: Not everyone is seeing the recovery in progress. How about volunteering a shift a week serving food at a homeless shelter or working at a food bank?
