As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.
Quote of the Week: “There are no traffic jams along the extra mile.” Roger Stauback
Humor Break:
Bev: I am reading an article by a fellow who is predicting the first restaurant review from the moon.
Al: Oh yeah, what’s this genius write?
Bev: He says “The customer service is out of this world, but the place has no atmosphere.â€
Stat of the Week: Today, 80% of the jobs in the US are in service, and service represents 80 percent of the U.S. gross national product. A survey conducted by the market research firm Yankelovich Partners, 90% of the people questioned said they feel they pay enough to get the highest level of service. Yet, 69% of these customers reported that the customer service people they deal with don’t seem to care.
Action Tip: If you care about your company’s customer service (including internal clients), read Uncommon Service to learn about what is possible.Â
Volunteering: You know who could use some service? Kids. Orphans to be exact. Want to help? If you are in the greater San Francisco/San Jose area, check out the Silicon Valley Children’s Fund. If you are in the greater Los Angeles or Washington, DC area, check out the unique Kidsave’s Miracles Programs for Older Children in Foster Care and Orphanages. Wouldn’t it be nice if Customer Service applied to orphans!
Love the humor break and your month on CS has made me and Anita pay more attention as givers and receivers. Thanks…
