As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.
Quote of the Week: “Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I’ve done it thousands of times.â€Â Mark Twain
Humor Break: Notice displayed on a plane: “There is no smoking in the cabin on this flight. There is also no smoking in the lavatories. If we see smoke coming from the lavatories, we will assume you are on fire and put you out. This is a free service we provide!
Stat of the Week: “Nonsmoking” rooms in hotels that allow smoking elsewhere had up to nearly 5 times the tobacco-related air pollutants as accommodations in smoke-free hotels.
Action Tip: If you really want a smoke-free room when travelling, you are going to have to stay in a smoke-free hotel. You will likely pay more to soothe your allergies and give your lungs a break.
Self-Development Corner: Summer school is still in session with a few “fun†courses available for those who seek something a little off the beaten path. Perhaps it is best to start with your own health: Nutrition and Physical Activity for Health (July 15, 6 weeks, University of Pittsburgh).
Want to try some music? How about Introduction to Guitar (July 19, 6 weeks, Berklee College of Music); or if you got that old time, long time, so-long time office blues, maybe you might want to put it to music: Songwriting (July 19, 6 weeks, Berklee College of Music).
Finally, there is no easy way to put this. This class is of the utmost importance and a reminder of some of the worst days of world history. But the story deserves to be told: The Holocaust (July 15, 10 weeks, UC Santa Cruz).
Anything smoke free is right up my alley and as usual, love Mark Twain.
