As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.
Quote of the Week: An optimist stays up to see the New Year in. A pessimist waits to make sure the old one leaves. Bill Vaughan
Humor Break: Bev was taking an afternoon nap on New Year’s Eve before the festivities. After she woke up, she confided to Al, her husband, “I just dreamed that you gave me a diamond ring for a New Year’s present. What do you think it all means?”
“Aha, you’ll know tonight,” answered Al, smiling broadly.
At midnight, as the New Year was chiming, Al approached Bev and handed her a small package. Delighted and excited she opened it quickly. There in her hand rested a book entitled: “The Meaning of Dreams”.
Stat of the Week: Each year approximately 16,000 are killed in alcohol related driving accidents. New Year’s Eve (December 31) is the second worst drunk driving day of the year.
Action Tip: If you are planning to have more than the traditional midnight drink, either stay home or before you go out have a designated driver. (Please do this for me. I want you to come back next year and enjoy this column for another 52 weeks.)
Volunteering: Here is a simple idea for volunteering. This weekend if you attend a celebration, volunteer to be the designated driver. You won’t have a headache in the morning and you may save several lives.
I count on your blogs to make me laugh or at least chuckle…this one did not disappoint. Thanks Bill and may those we love and care about, and even those we don’t, have a happy, healthy 2012. Lee
