As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.
Quote of the Week: There is an enormous number of managers who have retired on the job. Peter F. Drucker
Humor Break: I intend to live forever, or die trying.  Groucho Marx (not a Boomer)
Stat of the Week: On 1/1/11, the oldest Baby Boomers turned 65. The Boomers are a downbeat lot… more than other age groups … about the trajectory of their own lives and about the direction of the nation as a whole. 80% say they are dissatisfied with the way things are going in the country today. 21% say their own standard of living is lower than their parents’ was at the age they are now. 34% of Boomers believe their own children will not enjoy as good a standard of living as they themselves have now.
Action Tip: Most folks don’t have a clue how much they need to save to live at a comfortable life style. This is as good a time as any to give yourself a financial checkup. If you are within 10 years of retirement, it is too late for traditional planning, so don’t wait.Â
Volunteering: How about volunteering a few hours a week at your local senior center. After all, if you don’t make good financial plans for your retirement now, you may be spending a lot of time in one someday in the future.
