TGIF – What Now?

April 8, 2011 by Bill Bradley

As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.

Quote of the Week: “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” Stephen Covey

Humor Break: “I spent a lot of money on booze, birds (women) and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.”  George Best (former English soccer player)

Stat of the Week: 64% of executives surveyed by Booz & Company say their biggest frustration factor is having too many conflicting priorities.

Action Tip: Boss keeps changing your priorities?  Keep a “Boss Protector List”.  What’s that you say?  Keep a priority list of tasks your boss has you working on.  Next time she comes in with an “emergency”, get out the list and show her what (other “emergencies”) you are working on.  Ask her if you want the “emergency” to go to the top of the list.  Sometimes the boss will step back and rethink the “emergency.”  Bosses have even been known to look at the list and say “Hmmm, I think you are too busy.  I’ll give it to someone else.”

Volunteering: Make volunteering a priority in your life.  It is good for others.  It is good for you.
