HOT READS FOR THE PRACTITIONER

Title: New Year, Fresh Start, Better Results

Competencies: leadership, self-development

Who benefits: managers and supervisors

Consultant Usage: excellent coaching supplement

What’s it about? I received an opportunity to preview Shine: Using Brain Science to Get the Best from Your People just released two weeks ago.  It’s a Wow!

The book is written primarily for managers and supervisors, although it is a well written book that almost any professional would find interesting.

I don’t want to go overboard with my recommendation, so I will suggest the book to managers and supervisors only if they can answer Yes! to one of these three questions.

Do you have one or more poor performers you would like to raise up to the level of “average”?

Do you have one or more average performers you would like to be more productive?

Do you have one or more star performers you want to keep and keep energized?

If you answered “yes” to any of these three questions, then by all means get a hold of this book.  Learn how to “light up their brains”, strengthen relationships among team members, “play” productively at work, promote loyalty, work through the pressures of work, and enhance people’s desire to excel.

The author has excellent credentials.  The book is short and just races along.  If you want to be seen as a Star Manager or Star Supervisor, this is a great self-development read to get your year started in a positive direction.

Catch you later.
