What’s it about? This is going to be a short and simple post. I want to refer you to another post that I found very – and I mean exactly this – refreshing. It is a three minute read and darned if I didn’t feel better – refreshed – after reading it.
It is an article about the most simple kind of renewal. Anywhere/anytime. The author got me with this line: “This unplug and stop everything for a minute strategy might be a pretty good solution for whenever things aren’t working in life.â€
The article is called Restore Yourself to Your Factory Default Settings. It is a great 3-minute investment.
While I was there I noticed he published a new book six months ago. It is uniquely titled: 18 Minutes: Find Your Focus, Master Distraction, and Get the Right Things Done.
It is all about how busy people can cut through all the daily clutter and distractions and find a way to focus on those key items which are truly the top priorities. Man do I need that!
I have read the first chapter and I can tell you two things. He is a great writer and a great story teller. It is not a book you want to put down (unless your priority is writing a Post about this book).
I can also tell you it is endorsed by the well respected Publishers Weekly and by Robert Sutton, who I consider to one of the great leadership gurus of our time. Professor Sutton gave this enthusiastic review: “Pick this book up and read it. Bregman’s wisdom, humility, and ability to tell a great story run through every page of this gem. 18 Minutes is the best blend of a business book and a self-help book I have ever read.â€
So there you have it. A short version for instant gratification, satisfaction, and relaxation or the long version for an in-depth look at your overall effectiveness and time management. Two for the price of one. Can’t beat that.
Catch you later.
