TGIF – Live Long And Prosper

February 25, 2011 by Bill Bradley

As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.

Quote of the Week: I don’t want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve immortality through not dying.  Woody Allen

Humor Break: Q: What do you call people who abandon their diets?  A: Desserters!

Stat of the Week: 75.6 and 81.  Newest life expectancy rates for U.S. men and women.  If you are a long term smoker or overweight you can reasonably subtract 4 years from that number.

Action Tip: If you are overweight it isn’t too late to do something about it.  Consider WeightWatchers or other similar organization.  Takes too much time you say.  You are right.  You could invest many days in getting your weight to a healthy place.  But then what you lose in days and pounds, you gain in years.  That’s called an investment in the future!

Volunteering: If you are overweight, consider, gasp!, exercise.  A nice gentle form that is also a feel good opportunity is being a dog walker volunteer for your local animal shelter.
