As the week winds down, we wind down with some tidbits for your information, education, health, and enjoyment.
Quotes of the Week:
“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.” Â Sophocles
â€Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.â€Â Oprah Winfrey
â€The greatest homage we can pay to truth is to use it.â€Â  Ralph Waldo Emerson
Humor Break:
Al tells Bev that he is desperately searching for an accountant.
Bev asks, “Didn’t you hire an accountant a short while ago?”
Al replies, “That’s the accountant I’m searching for.”
Stat of the Week: Apparently if you think about whether you lie or cheat … you do, at least according to a report called The Ethical Dangers of Deliberative Decision Making. According to a series of psychological experiments at the University of Toronto, 68.2% of people who were in a deliberative mindset were willing to lie for their own gain, compared with just 36.4% of people who were thinking intuitively, suggesting that thoughtful deliberation poses a danger to moral judgment. Make up your own mind quickly.
Action Tip: Read this thought provoking and even scary article from Knowledge.Wharton (University of Pennsylvania):Â Goal setting and Cheating: Why They Often Go Together in the Workplace.
Volunteering: This week I am going to be selfish. I work with poor children and families in Southern Mexico. Right now these families are desperate for baby clothes and clothes for children in grades K, 1 and 2. If you or someone you know has clothes (especially shoes) in this age range and would like to donate to these very poor families, please send a care package to Bill Bradley (that’s me), 3650 Morning Star Drive, #2402, Las Cruces, NM, 88011. I will be taking these clothes with me when I return to Mexico in early January. You can read about what I do at ZihuaBill’s Blog. I thank you.
I have been gone, sick with a cold and unavailable to read things like your blog but I am catching up and I forgot how much I like your humor. Thanks and happy holidays…Lee
